This Act provides for the regulation of conditions of work and employment in shops & commercial establishments in the State of Karnataka. |
Applicability |
It applies to the areas notified by the Government. |
Registration of Establishment |
Registration of all establishments is compulsory. Application in Form-A to be made to concerned labour Inspector with necessary fee which is as under: |

Renewal of registration is compulsory for every five years using (Form - AA). |
The employment of children below 14 years is prohibited under Section 24 of the Act. Young persons and woman shall not be employed during night, between 8 pm to 6 am. |

(a) Bangalore City 6-00 am to 8-00 pm
(b) Other than Bangalore City 6-00 am to 9-00 pm |

The name board of every establishment shall be in kannada and if any other language is used, it should be below the kannada version (Rule 24-A). |

Penalties are prescribed under the Act for violation. |
